Meal for one. Usually I prefer to cook 1 dish which consist of meat (proteins) and vegetables (fibre) and some gravy to go with the steamed rice. This would be an example of my favourite.
It's very important not to cook beef meat too long as this will result in a rubbery and hard meat texture.
Ingredients : (serves 1)
110g Beef (cut into thin slices)
40g Broccoli (cut into florets)
3 slices Ginger
1 tbsp Oil
Water for blanching
(A) Marinade for beef:
1 tsp Light Soy Sauce
Dash of White Pepper
3/4 tsp Corn Starch
(B) Seasoning : (mix together)
1 1/2 tsp Oyster Sauce
1 tsp Light Soy Sauce
1/2 tsp Sugar
1 1/2 tbsp Water
Step by Step :
1. Cut beef meat into thin slices. Best is to cut it when it's still half frozen. Slice beef across the grain so that the meat will not contract and become tough when cooked.
2. Marinade beef with 'A' for at least 20 mins.
3. Boil water in pot. Then blanch broccoli for 2 mins. Strain and set aside.
4. Heat up oil in pan/wok. Saute ginger till fragrant. .
5. Add in marinated beef slices into the wok and give a quick stir for about 30
seconds.(you can see beef is half cooked and still reddish)
6. Add in blanched broccoli into beef and give another quick stir for about 1 mins.
7. Then pour in seasoning sauce and stir till sauce thickens abit, about 1 mins.
8. Quickly dish up & serve hot with steamed rice.
Happy Cooking.
