Overnight or few days old bread is hard & dry to eat? Microwave the bread with half cup of water for 20-30 secs. (Bread on a plate, put the cup with water beside the bread) The bread will come out very soft & fluffy, like freshly bake out from the oven.

Soaking chinese dried mushrooms takes too long to soften? No worries, add a teaspoon of sugar to the water to soak the mushrooms, it quickens the whole soaking process. Try it yourself!!

Want to chill your canned drinks faster?
In a chiller box, add alot ice cubes & water, enough to soak the canned drink. Throw half a packet of rock salt into it & you can feel the ice water getting colder faster.

Add some white vinegar into the red colouring mixture before dipping the hard boiled eggs. Dip while eggs still hot. Result, even & nice coated red eggs for celebrations.

Drying mandarin orange peels. Don't waste even the skin. Good for red bean soup & other types of soup.

Oxidation? How to prevent cut fruits such as pears, apples & guava from turning brown? Add 1/2 tsp of salt to a bowl of water, immediately dip & soak the cut fruits into the salt water for about 10 seconds and remove to serve. No more ugly looking fruits !!

How to make curly spring onions / shredded carrots / shredded cucumber / shredded chillies for garnishing? 
After shredding, put in a bowl of water with few pcs of ice cubes for 5-10 minutes, you will see the magic happens!!

No meat tenderizer at home? Marinate meat with some baking soda (soda bicarbonate) will actually makes the meat more tender. Baking soda act just like meat tenderizer. Works on all kinds of meat such as chicken, pork, beef. Not recommend for fish.
How to do it : Add the baking soda to the cut meat and then wash it off before cooking. It should work on pork/chicken/beef as long as the baking soda is on the meat (and not the skin or fat).
