Steamed carrot rolls. Simple yet delicious.
The natural sweetness from the corn and carrot make this dish so pleasant and well-balanced.
Taste wise, it's same like tung choy steamed minced pork, just that I did it in a more colorful and appetizing way. Great to eat with a bowl of hot steamed rice.
Ingredients: (makes 11 rolls)
80g Minced Pork
1 Carrot (medium size - long)
15g Corn Kernels
5g Tung Choy (冬菜)
*optional : some chopped spring onions
Seasoning:
1/4 tsp Light Soy Sauce
Pinch of Sugar
Pinch of Salt
Dash of White Pepper
1/4 tsp Corn Starch
Step by Step:
1. Using a peeler, makes few long thin slices of carrot. Preferably the center part which have a wider part.
2. Roughly chopped corn kernels & tung choy. Then mix together into minced pork with all the seasoning ingredients. (optional: add chopped spring onions at this stage)
3. Get ready to roll. Divide minced pork into 11 small portions.
4. Roll minced pork into a cyclinder shape and place it on the carrot slice. Then roll it to wrap around the pork. Cut away excess carrot.
5. Place them on a wet plate for steaming. Repeat the same for the rest. Sprinkle some water (about 1 tbsp) on the carrot rolls before steaming.
6. Steam on rapid boiling water for 10 mins.
7. Serve hot.
Happy Cooking..
