Nestum Cereal Prawns

Nestum Cereal Prawns - is one of the famous dish commonly served during Chinese wedding banquet. Alternatively, you can always order one at any Chinese Seafood Restaurant.

You can use 3-in-1 packet Original Nestum to cook this dish. Otherwise the Original Nestum in tin packaging works the same as well minus the milk powder content in it. Do not use porridge oat. It's a totally different thing.

We love this dish because the crunchy Nestum flakes fried in butter and absorb all the strong aroma of the curry leaves. Everyone will start shovel into the golden sand before they start to gobble down the prawns.

Ingredients : (serves 2)

300g medium size prawns, trim & devein

1 tsp Salt

1/2 beaten egg

1 1/2 corn flour

Cereal mix: (mix together)

3/4 cup Nestum Cereal

1 tsp Sugar

1/2 tsp Salt

Cooking Oil

2 tbsp Butter

1 Chilli Padi (add more if you can take spicy)

2 -3 springs of Curry Leaves, sprig removed

Step by Step:

1. Marinate prawns with some salt & leave aside for about 1 hour.

2. Pour in half beaten egg & corn flour into the prawns. Stir to mix evenly.

3. In a heated pan, pour in cooking oil & deep fry prawns till it turned orange in colour & fully cooked. Remove & set aside.

(In this pic above : I'm using little bit of oil to pan fried the prawn on both sides till cooked. I don't want to fry it due to diet control of eating too much fried stuff) Deep frying the prawns will gives the extra crunchiness on the prawns shell.

4. Using low heat, heat up butter until bubbly & toss in curry leaves & chilli padi. Fry till it release the fragrant smell.

5. Stir in the Nestum flakes & stir to mix evenly.

6. Then add in cooked prawns & toss thoroughly. The cereal should be lightly golden brown.

7. Seasoned with salt & pepper to taste.

8. Remove & serve immediately.

This dish prepared by using Queen's Xense Casserole Marble Coated Anodised Coating. Non stick 5 layer marble coating. Durable & Long Lasting. High heat efficiency. Easy cleaning & maintenance.
