Sometimes when I'm alone, I will just cook a single dish & eat with steamed rice. Steaming is always easy to handle & washing up is lesser too.
A nourishing & delicious Steamed D.O.M. Chicken. D.O.M Benedictine wine liquor is commonly used for dishes or soups during confinement month by many Asian women. D.O.M. will give this dish a sweet flavour and rather light in taste. Don't expect a very strong wine chicken dish like yellow wine chicken. D.O.M. will help improves general well being, improves blood circulation, dispel wind & helps to sleep better. If you want a rosy cheek, consume this more regularly.
Ingredients : (serves 1)
1 chicken whole leg
5 pcs red dates (seed removed)
4 pcs ginger, thinly sliced
1 pc black fungus, soaked & cut
10pcs dried wolfberries, soaked
2 tbsp D.O.M Benedictine wine
2 tbsp light soy sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp sesame oil
10 tbsp of water ( I prefer some soup to drink)
Water for steaming
Steps by Steps:
1. Clean chicken & remove excess fats.
2. Place chicken & all other ingredients in a plate or bowl to steam.
3. In a wok/steamer, bring hot water to boil & put in the chicken.
4. Cover the wok & steam for 40 minutes on medium heat. Do look out for steaming water drying up. Add more if necessary. Use a spoon to drizzle some soup on the chicken.
5. Steam for 40 minutes.
6. Ready to serve. Serve hot with rice.
* Note : If you cut chicken into small pieces, steaming time can be reduced.
