Steamed Salted Shredded Chicken


Here's a recipe for Steamed Salted Shredded Chicken. A simple & delicious recipe. Easy to eat as all bones has been removed. Kids will sure love this to the max. Adding five spice powder gives the chicken meat an aromatic taste.

Ingredients : (serves 2-3)

2 whole chicken thigh - preferably use kampung chicken

1 tsp five spice powder

2 tsp salt

2 tbsp xiao xing wine

Step by Step :

1. Clean chicken thigh & wipe dry with kitchen towel.

2. Add five spice powder & salt & rub evenly on the chicken. Rub the meat in between the chicken skin as well.

3. Add xiao xing wine & gently massage the chicken. Keep in seal container & let it marinate for overnight.

4. Next day, take out chicken & rinse marinated chicken under running tap water. Rinse away five spice powder & salt.

5. Boil water, put chicken in a plate & steam chicken for 30 minutes or until chicken fully cooked. (Steaming time depends on your chicken size). Keep the chicken essence from the steaming, do not throw away.

6. Let it cool down before you shred the chicken thigh. Otherwise it will be too hot for your fingers to handle.

7. Shred all the chicken meat, removing the skin, fats & blood veins. (if any)

8. Arrange shredded chicken on a plate, add back the chicken essence into it.

9. Reheat in microwave or re-steam it before serving. Make sure do not overheat, otherwise the chicken will be too dry.

10. Ready to be serve. Garnish with tossed sesame seeds.
