Crispy Onion Rings

Updated: May 22, 2020

This is the best onion rings that I've ate. Crunchy with 'krak krak' sound effect when you bite it. And best of all, you won't be able to taste the onion spicyness taste. So even those of you who don't like onions, can accept this. You definitely gotta try this.

Ingredients: (serves 2-3)

1 whole Yellow Onions (big)

Oil for frying

A medium bowl of ice cubes & ice water

Batter

4 tbsp All Purpose Flour

4 tbsp Rice Flour

2 tsp Baking Powder

1/2 tsp Sugar

1/2 tsp Salt

Dash of Black Pepper / White Pepper

6 tbsp Cold Water

Step by Step:

1. Remove onion skins & slice them into rings.

2. Loosen the rings and dip them into ice water filled with some ice cubes. Let it soak for about 20 minutes.

3. Remove onions from ice water & arrange on tray to let it dry. Alternatively you may place them on kitchen towel to dry. Let it dry for about 20 mins.

4. Heat up enough oil for frying in the wok.

5. Now, make the batter when you are ready to fry. Mix all together and stir for a smooth batter.

6. Once the oil is ready, dip onion rings into the batter and slowly put into the hot oil. Repeat process until all onion rings used up.

7. Fry till it turns golden and remove. Drain & placed on kitchen towels to absorb excess oil.

8. Dish up & serve hot. Dip with your favourite chilli / tomato sauce.

Enjoy & have a happy weekend.. Happy Cooking..
