Copycat KFC Alike Whipped Potatoes


Easy whipped potatoes recipe that you can have it on it's own or served as side dishes. Simplified version of KFC whipped potatoes.

Ingredients: (serves 4-5 as side dish)

2 Russet Potatoes (big size)

3 tbsp Fresh Milk

50g Softened Salted Butter

Dash of Black Pepper

400ml Water (to boil the potatoes)

Gravy:

200ml Water (use water from boiling the potatoes)

5g Butter (about 1 tbsp)

1/2 cube of Maggi Chicken Cube

3 tsp Corn Starch / Tapioca Starch

1 tsp All Purpose Flour

2 drops of Dark Soy Sauce (for a darker color gravy)

1 tsp Light Soy Sauce

Dash of Black Pepper

Step by Step:

1. Deskin potatoes & cut into 6 pieces cubes.

2. Boil potatoes in 400ml water for about 15 mins or until potatoes are softened. (Use a fork to poke & check the softness)

3. Scoop up the potatoes and add in butter & pepper while the potatoes are still hot. Mash potatoes using a fork or masher.

4. Add in milk to the mashed potatoes & stir till well combined. *(Don't overmix the potatoes as it will get starchy)

5. Retain 250ml of the water from the boiled potatoes and discard the rest. From this 250ml of water, scoop out 4 tbsp of the water into a small bowl and add in corn starch/tapioca starch & all purpose flour. Mix well and set aside this starch mixture.

6. Using a saucepan, pour in 250ml water (from the boiled potatoes) together with chicken cube, butter, dark soy sauce, light soy sauce & black pepper. Bring to a boil and slowly stir in starch mixture until gravy thicken to your preferred consistency. (Not necessary to put in all starch mixture)

7. To serve. pour gravy over whipped potatoes and serve immediately.
