Homemade Dog Treats - Sweet Potato Cookies


Buying dog treats is so costly nowadays. And you don't know what they put inside apart from the preservatives and additives. Have you ever thought of making your own dog treats?

A perfect treat for your furry friends are these Homemade Sweet Potato Dog Treats and they contain only healthy ingredients. Not only do most dogs love the taste, they are high in fiber.

Simple, quick & delicious recipe. The dogs love them.

Ingredients : (Yield about 52 pcs)

100g Purple Sweet Potato (steamed & mashed)

1 egg (beaten)

90g Wheat Flour

Step by Steps :

1. Preheat oven to 175C.

2. Stir ingredients together in a large bowl until dough forms.

3. Dust flour on the table & roll dough about 5-7mm thickness.

4. Use cookie cutter to cut out dough. Alternatively you may just use a knife to cut into your preferred square or rectangle shape.

5. Placed cut cookie dough on a parchment paper. Use a fork to poke the cookie dough.

6. Put into oven & bake for 20 mins.

7. Turn off the oven but leave the cookies stay inside with oven door still closed. Leave them in the oven for 15 mins to dry.

8. Remove & let it cool down before storing in airtight containers.

Tadaa !! Cookie treats is ready !!

The cookies will actually become like a pillow shape after baking.

* You can try eating the cookies too. The texture is hard, yes hard to bite for human but your dogs definitely won't have any problem with that. You can taste & smell the purple sweet potatoes. Slight sweetness from the sweet potato.

* The cookies should be fully dry, especially the center otherwise it will turn moldy. Therefore when rolling the dough, do not roll too thick. For thicker piece of dough, you will need to bake longer. The reason I use the fork to poke the center is to allow the center to bake thoroughly.

* You can substitute with orange color / yellow color sweet potato as well.

* Best to consume within 2 weeks. You may store all your homemade treats in the refrigerator to extend their shelf life, as they are made without preservatives and additives.
