Sausage Bread Rolls

Buying bread nowadays at bread shop will cost quite a bomb as sometimes a piece of bread could reach up to RM2.80 - RM3.00 per piece. I always love bread especially those freshly baked sweet buns. So this time, I decide to try making my own bread at home. This is my first time making this type of bread rolls. I don't have any bread maker. So I knead using my hands only.

Using recipe by Sonia a.k.a Nasi Lemak Lover. The dough is really simple & easy to handle. I made some adjustment on the dough portion as I am using a bigger sausage here.

Ingredients : (yields 10 pcs)

200g High Protein Flour or Bread flour

130g milk ( I use room temperature Dutch Lady Low Fat milk)

35g castor sugar

3g instant yeast

1/8 tsp salt

25g butter, room temperature

5 sausages (I am using Ayamas Premium Italian Chicken Frankfurter) - defrost, pat dry, cut into halves

2 sheet of plastic

Optional : Sesame seed (White / Black) or Mix Italian herbs

Egg wash ---> 1 Egg yolk + 1 tbsp Milk OR just use milk

Steps by Steps :

1. Mix all the ingredients except butter in a mixing bowl. Combine & knead till smooth.

2. Add in butter, continue to kned till elastic & smooth dough. Keep aside to rise till double its size. (I put in into the microwave with door closed, let it sit for about 25 minutes)

3. Divide the dough into 40gm each & roll into small balls. Put aside & rest again for 10 minutes.

4. On your work table, we need 2 piece of clean plastic bag for rolling the dough in between the plastic sheet. So that your rolling pin will be clean & dough won't stick on the working surface.

5. Take a small dough, use rolling pin to flatten it, then roll it long long like a cigarette stick. Keep aside to rest another 10 minutes.

6. Take a dough & shape it like a cone shape. Use a rolling pin, roll in flat.

7. Place the sausage at the bigger ends & start to roll the dough wrapping the sausage.

8. Place sausage roll on lined baking sheet. Repeat the rest of the dough until finish. Finally let it proof for another 30 -40 minutes.

9. Apply egg wash / milk on the buns surface & sprinkle sesame seed / italian mix herbs on top.

10. Bake at preheated oven 170C (fan forced) or 180C (no fan) for 15-20 minutes.
