Nestum Cookies


Nestum or better known as instant cereal, is definitely everyone's favourite. Kids & adults love it too. I remember when I was a kid, I will always scoop a spoonful of nestum & quickly put in my mouth before my mum noticed it. Have you or your kids doing the same nowadays?

Why not make some Nestum cookies this CNY? The fragrance of the Nestum filled the whole house when the cookies is baking in the oven. The crunchiness of this cookies is super awesome. And most of all, I think this is the easiest cookies to make.

Ingredients : (Yields 63 pcs)

125g unsalted butter

80g sugar

1 egg yolk

100g plain flour

42g corn flour

2g salt

65g Nestum (instant cereal)

Steps by Steps:

1. In a large bowl, beat butter & sugar till light & fluffy.

2. Add in egg yolk & continue to mix till incorporated.

3. In a separate bowl, sift together plain flour, corn flour & salt. Then add to butter & egg mixture. Using a spatula,fold till well combined.

4. Fold in nestum & mix well.

5. Preheat oven at 180 degree celcius & line baking tray with parchment paper.

6. Roughly scoop out a small spoon of dough, gently shape into ball shape & place it on baking tray. Gently use your finger to press to flatten abit. Size about 20 cents. Don't arrange to near to each other as cookie dough will expand a bit while baking.

7. Put in preheated oven & bake for 12 minutes or until the edges are just beginning to turn brown. Top & bottom heat. Low rack.

Fresh from the oven. Ummmm.. smells so good.

Tips :

1. Do not over bake the cookies, otherwise the base will be burnt easily.

2. When the cookies done, they should still seem a little bit soft. Once it cool down properly, it will firm up & become crunchy.
